Hey Droogs and Diamonds
I got to see the film Big Eyes. The Film was directed by Tim Burton. If you don’t know who Tim Burton is he is the creator of Nightmare before Christmas and the director and writer of Beetlejuice.
Big Eyes is about the painter Margaret Keane and how she rose to fame with her paintings or should I say how her husband rose to fame with her paintings.
Amy Adams (left) is playing Margaret Keane. Her performance is amazing. I love Amy Adams. Her performance in American Hustle was great. I think she nailed it in Big Eyes. Christoph Waltz played her husband Walter Keane.
To make the long synopsis a short paragraph its a drama about the awakening of the painter Margaret Keane, her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties she had with her husband, who claimed credit for her works in the 1960s.
In the beginning of the film there is a quote by another famous painter Andy Warhol who said, “I think that what Keane has done is just terrific. It has to be good. If it were so bad, so many people wouldn’t like it.”
From its Directorial Style you can tell it was Tim Burton who did this film. This is something different from all the other things he has done. Lately he has had hit and miss films. I was shocked when I first heard he was directing and producing this film. I think this film will be a hit. There are moments where it drags but it picks up again.
Overall I think this film is great to watch and to learn the life of Margaret Keane. Below I had placed some of her paintings.
